User Group News Letter (October 7, 2005)
Quite a while we did not exchange information about D&R roadmap and
a lot of events occurred the last months 2. A connected world To reinforce, worldwide, the IP community, D&R has signed up 2 major agreements in order to contribute in creating a more connected IP/SoC world . Such agreements grant to other associations and portals, an access to D&R IP catalog database for obvious reasons. First it seems nearly impossible to replicate the on going efforts made by D&R for updating in real time its IP data base. Sharing D&R catalogs, allows these partner associations to deliver to their members accurate data at any time. On the provider side, it would cause real damage to IP providers should they have to multiply their publishing efforts. As D&R takes the commitment to transfer the leads to the providers whatever the origin visited site is, they will gain more visibility and increased market penetration. So overall they will get a great benefit out of these initiatives. A first agreement was announced with CSIP (Chinese Software & Integrated Circuit Promotion Center) which holds for a while an Intellectual property based platform and a second agreement with FSA which groups the Fabless Chip vendors who are key players in the IP/SoC world. 3. Hot corners A hot corner on D&R website addresses a topic that is of high interest to the companies involved in IP based SoC design and for which it seems important that D&R website provides comprehensive information. The hot corner on DSP on FPGA is a very successful example. It attracts a lot of visitors as this is a question where the market is looking for answers. D&R in the future will pay more attention on all IPs offers on FPGA due to the high activity in this area. D&R is also willing to give more attention to key design centers especially those who base their offer on an IP portfolio and/or IP based platform. D&R wishes to emphasize that its interest is not only in licensable IP providers but more generally in IP based platforms providers. This should give more visibility to IP based solution providers, such as High level design centers and turnkey solution providers . Thus a special hot Corner on IP based Virtual Fabless solution providers has been open an we encourage you to contact us should you belong to such a category. What next? D&R is willing to promote standards or pre standards for IP delivery and IP integration. Such a corner should open soon and keep the market updated about any valuable initiatives such as OCP IP, Spirit, VSIA; This should typically be D&R mission to give a comprehensive picture on this topic. Next topics could be an analog corner that is so hot in the IP arena Starting from January Hot Corners should be renewed more frequently and host live webcasts in each hot corner. This should definitively make these hot corners really hot. 4. And D&R as a software vendor? D&R is consolidating over the years its efficient technology for creating IP catalogs, IP delivery station and reuse station. Used everyday by D&R itself it allows to create private catalogs with massive data import/export mechanism. When licensed to a provider, it grants him the most reliable, most efficient, most innovative vehicle to deliver its products to its customer and support them. This will make him a winner and jump over the competition in his business. Installed in a large company it may be tuned either to an excellent IP entry/delivery station either to an intranet reuse station supporting collaborative design. So let's be winners and make Reuse happen. Contact us to learn more about D&R products 5. IP/SoC 2005 - December 7-8, 2005 - Grenoble, France

And do not forget that prior to the conference the day before D&R gives a one day training on the best practice for delivering IPs.
