Magima Licenses the MIPS32 4Kc Core for its STB/DTV Products
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, and SHANGHAI, CHINA, April 11, 2005 - MIPS Technologies, Inc., (NASDAQ: MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and business applications, and Magima Corporation, a provider of embedded designs for the Chinese market, today announced that Magima has licensed the MIPS32® 4Kc® SMIC 0.18 hard core to develop its SoC solution for Set-Top-Box (STB) and digital television (DTV) projects. This agreement further extends MIPS Technologies' reach into a rapidly expanding STB/DTV market in China.

The MIPS32 4Kc SMIC 0.18 micron hard core gives designers more performance and greater flexibility to achieve higher system throughput while controlling silicon cost. The flexibility and re-programmability enables upgrades in software as protocol specifications or market requirements evolve. With a worst case frequency of 190MHz and a die area of 3.42 square millimeters, the 4Kc SMIC .18 hard core offers a tremendous price-performance advantage to SoC designers.
