Faraday Introduces PCI Express IP Solutions
HSINCHU Taiwan and SUNNYVALE CA, September 20, 2004 -- Faraday Technology Corp. (TAIEX:3035), a leading fabless ASIC and IP provider, today announced its PCI Express IP solutions – PCI Express PHY FXPCIE100, and PCI Express endpoint controller FTPCIXP100. It meets the demand of high bandwidth requirements for networking, storage, and many other high-speed applications.
“Faraday is working towards the direction of providing a complete high performance I/O solution that covers USB, Serial ATA, 10/100 Ethernet, and PCI Express. We are confident that our portfolio of high speed I/O IPs can easily satisfy the needs of our customers. By adopting Faraday's High Speed I/O solution, customers are freed from the problems normally associated with PCI Express communication protocols and signal integrities during high speed data transmission; they only need to concentrate on the development of system and the overall architecture which can greatly reduce the development time and efforts." said Hsin Wang, the Associate Vice President of RD at Faraday.
FXPCIE100 is a 1-lane modular PHY designed in UMC 0.18µm standard CMOS process. It is implemented in the physical coding sub layer (PCS) and the physical media attachment layer (PMA) and is in full compliance with the PIPE interface standard.
FTPCIXP100 is a PCI Express endpoint controller that complies with the PCI Express base specification 1.0a . The FTPCIXP100 supports 16-bit PIPE interface to transceiver and up to x4 lane configurable width. There are two clock domains in the FTPCIXP100. One is for application interface that ranges from 33 to 133 MHz and the other is for PIPE clock at 125 MHz.
In addition to the PCI Express IP, Faraday will also deliver a complete solution for PCI Express design. This includes full interoperability testing, a development board, and package design for ASIC customers. The solution would ultimately assure customers with the fastest time-to-volume for PCI Express based products.
"Our customers are very excited with the specification our R&D team has achieved," said Frankwell Lin, Vice President of Sales at Faraday. "But what set up apart from others is that Faraday is not just an IP provider but a company that delivers a complete solution from prototyping to volume production. Whatever your needs may be Faraday is there every step of the way."
Faraday also anticipates the availability of PCI Express 1 lane PHY and 4 lanes PHY in the standard 0.13µm CMOS process in Q1, 2005.
