32-bit CPU IP core supporting ISO 26262 ASIL B level functional safety for automotive applications
MIPS Technologies Licenses Pro Series Processor Core to SiNett
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., August 23, 2004 - MIPS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MIPS) MIPS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and business applications, announced it has licensed the MIPS32® 4KEp™ Pro core to SiNett Corp., a developer of groundbreaking wireless local area network (WLAN) packet processing silicon and software.
The 4KEp Pro core offers performance of 356 Dhrystone MIPS and gives SOC designers enormous flexibility to optimize their applications while significantly improving application performance and reducing power consumption. The 4KEp Pro core features the CorExtend™ capability, enabling designers to add user-defined instructions and maintain compatibility with the MIPS® architecture. Additionally, 4KE family cores include advanced features such as code compression, larger writeback cache memories and extensive clock gating.
"Network OEMs need new silicon devices that allow them to build more intelligence into their products through improved performance, while maintaining margins and lowering the costs of production," said Shiri Kadambi, co-founder and CEO of SiNett. "We chose the 4KEp Pro core because it gives us the most flexibility to meet our design goals and deliver highly competitive solutions for the seamless integration of wired and wireless networks."
"Networking infrastructure products that enable wireless access to corporate resources is an important growth market. We are pleased that SiNett has chosen the MIPS architecture to create solutions that deliver a seamless, secure, cost-effective network," said Jack Browne, vice president of worldwide sales at MIPS Technologies. "The performance and CorExtend capabilities of the 4KEp Pro core will allow SiNett's design team to innovate with ease and get to market fast using an industry-standard architecture."
