Chipidea is the world-leading supplier for high performance analog and mixed signal IP as well as SOC that is silicon-proven on leading edge manufacturing processes.
Within 6 years fast growth, Chipidea has successfully designed more than 350 IPs for 55 customers including world top IDMs, fabless IC companies, and system integrators. Chipidea also works in partnership with top foundries such as TSMC, UMC, Tower, CSM, SMIC etc. and owns experience with over 40 different CMOS and BICMOS processes ranging from 0.35um to 90nm.
With its advanced and rich design experience, Chipidea has been able to develop platforms for designing products within a specification range which provides more automated design and verification flow. This reduces risk, cost, and schedule for new products, derivatives of existing products and for porting to any process.
Chipidea solutions range from the supply of analog-digital IP blocks for embedded use to full turnkey designs. Chipidea competitive solutions:
(1) ADC/DAC
Chipidea's high-speed ADCs are based on pipeline techniques that efficiently explore the trade-offs between power dissipation, signal bandwidth and resolution. Proven in common submicron CMOS technologies, Chipidea ADCs covers resolution from 6 to 16 bits and conversion rates from 10 kHz to 200 MHz. With the richest design experience and state-of-art technologies, Chipidea is fully capable to offer a wide range of ADCs and fully integrated solutions to meet our customer's application requirements.
Chipidea high-speed DACs are realized using segmented current steering architectures in order to achieve very good specifications in terms of static accuracy and dynamic performance, at very high update rates. Implemented in standard submicron CMOS technologies, Chipidea high-speed DACs are capable of attaining the highest performances in terms of static accuracy, dynamic characteristics, and speed of operation, and hence are well suited to cover resolutions from 8 to 12 bits, and update rates up to 220 MHz.
(2) PLL, DLL
Chipidea PLL solutions are specifically tailored to application. This allows obtaining optimum trade-off between jitter/phase noise and current consumption.
(3) AFE
Chipidea solutions for Analog Front-ends include Tuned Analog Filters, Offset self-calibration, data conversion and digital filters. Optimum partitioning of filter specifications between analog and digital parts allows minimum power consumption with excellent performance.
(4) Power management
Chipidea's power management IPs include LDOs, dc/dc converters, battery chargers, charge pumps, and regulators. These can be used in a variety of portable applications, including wireless communications, small portable devices, general electronic systems.
(5) Physical Interface
Chipidea processes specialized group dedicated to the development of advanced physical interface IP cores that are essential to enable communication of on-chip electronics, both analog and digital to the outside world. Developments include a family of digital high-speed I/Os, USB transceivers as well as drivers for copper line communications and audio applications. Currently, Chipidea has USB 2.0PHY, USB2.0OTG, USB2.0OTGLPC in 8 different CMOS processes ranging from 0.18 to 0.13.
(7) Voice and Audio Codec
Chipidea develops and supplies cost-effective blocks for voice and audio codecs fully compliant with commonly accepted standards. Such codecs are one of the key mixed-signal blocks enabling complete single chip solutions in modern system applications, from communications to multimedia.
(8) Digital Modules
In order to offer complete solution to meet increased customer demand in the SoC business, Chipidea has expended Chipidea IP portfolio functionality into digital IP platforms that complement Chipidea existing analog IP platforms. Current development is covering applications for multimedias, mobile internet and Bluetooth application
(9) Oversampling modulators
Oversampling technology plays a major role in Chipidea's capability to create interface solutions for a wide variety of applications of digital-processed analog signals. The design platforms for oversamped A/D interfaces are based on second and third order single stage modulator technologies, respectively with single-bit and multi-bit quantization, to cover a wide range of specifications from voice to radio interfacing.
(10) RF
Chipidea core competence is positioned between RF and digital baseband. While the interface to digital baseband is fairly standard and posses no difficulty obstacles, the interface to RF is tightly linked to solutions adopted on the analog baseband. By having strong RF in-home, Chipidea is able to offer highly integrated, seemless solutions from the "antenna to the digital processor", a capability that it is not widely available in the world market.
